ARF - Designated Supports Requiring TEA Approval

What We Do

Procedure for Submitting Requests for Designated Supports Requiring TEA Approval

If the ARD committee determines that a student a) is eligible for a Type 2 accommodation, AND b) needs the given accommodation as evidenced by the accommodation in the student's IEP as one that is used regularly in the classroom, the following procedure should be followed:

1. The ARD committee will document in the ARD/IEP Meeting that “pending TEA approval the student will receive the specific accommodation(s).”

2. The Diagnostician will submit a copy of the ARF Accommodations Request Data form to the Special Education Compliance Coordinator (Rose Henry) with the information that is required on the ARF.

3. The Special Education Compliance Coordinator will review the request to determine if the request is within the TEA guidelines for Type 2 accommodations.

4. If the request is approved, the Special Education Compliance Coordinator will submit the ARF to TEA.

5. If the request is not approved, the Special Education Compliance coordinator will notify the Special Education Director, as well as contact the campus to review the denied request.

6. Once TEA notifies the Director for Director of  Accountability and Assessment, she will process the requested accommodation OR contact the Special Education Compliance Coordinator and Special Education Director with any questions.
